Shiheun Han

Shiheun Han 한 시흔 reimagines Onggi 옹기, the traditional Korean “breathing vessel,” by preserving its essence while infusing it with contemporary sensibility. Faithful to time-honored methods, he explores new aesthetics by integrating techniques from across Korean craft history, including the delicate inlay of najeonchilgi 나전칠기, the expressive brushwork of buncheong 분청, and the traces of fire and ash from roof-tile firing.

Through these experiments, Han transforms the humble earthenware into art that resonates beyond utility. His brush-marked Onggi—often likened to rain softly falling upon earth—embody both memory and modernity, offering collectors pieces that bridge tradition and innovation with quiet strength.
